San Antonio is home to seven off-leash dog parks.
No matter where you live, there is a park nearby where your dog can enjoy plenty of space to play fetch, make new friends and explore. There are even dog parks with water fountains for these hot summer days!
Madison Square Park
Madison Square Park is one of the oldest facilities in the San Antonio Parks and Recreation System. It’s 5.1 acres are filled with ornamental plantings, picnic tables, rich history and a .65 acre dog park. The dog park opened in 2010 and includes a fenced off-leash area, mutt-mitts, a doggie drinking fountain, and beaches!
Panther Springs Park
Panther Springs Park features a 1.5 acre park just for dogs. There are fenced in areas for small and large dogs to run and play off leash. You can find the dog park entrance at the front of the park and it is open from sunrise to sunset, 7 days a week.
McAllister Dog Park
McAllister’s Dog Park opened on March 31, 2007 thanks to a $1,637,000 project that included updating existing facilities and the construction of new ones. The dog park features exercise equipment, a covered picnic area, benches and a walking trail. The park is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., and there is no lighting in the dog park.
Phil Hardberger Park Dog Park
The Phil Hardberger Park hosts two dog parks, one at each entrance of the park. There is a 1.8 acre fenced in area for large dogs and small dogs to enjoy. The small dog area has a two-story doghouse that was donated by Lisa Hinson and family. You can enjoy this dog park daily, from 7:30 a.m. to sunset.
Slick Park
Slick Park has two fenced dog areas. The dog park off the 151 entrance has a separate area for large and small dogs and has amenities including benches, picnic tables, a fountain for people and pets, and a special doggie shower. Park goers can look forward to shade structures and solar lighting that are currently pending. You can find the second dog park at the Timber Creek entrance.
