Let’s be honest. One of the central loves of your life is your pup. Express your appreciation for Fido with some DIY treats handmade with care just in time for Valentine’s Day. Follow these ridiculously easy recipes and your dog will be drooling in a snap.
Heart-Shaped Cinnamon Pumpkin Dog Treat

1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie blend)
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 cups rolled oats
Heart-shaped cookie cutter
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Lightly spray baking sheet with cooking spray with flour.
- In a small bowl combine the pumpkin and eggs.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.
- Next, stir in the rolled oats.
- Make a well in the center of the oat mixture. Pour in the pumpkin mixture.
- Thoroughly stir together until combined.
- Using a cookie scoop, scoop the batter onto the cookie sheet. Flatten into a cookie shape with a small glass dipped in water so the cookie won’t stick.
- Use your heart cookie cutter to cut out your shapes
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Cool completely on a wire rack.

Frozen Peanut Butter and Yogurt Dog Treat Hearts

2 cups plain organic Greek yogurt
2 cups natural peanut butter
Heart-shaped ice tray

- Spoon a small amount of peanut butter into the base of the ice tray. You can heat up the peanut butter first to make it easier (and not so messy) to spoon in. The more you add, the thicker the top layer on the treats will appear.
- Next up, dollop heaping spoonfuls of the yogurt to cover the peanut butter in each mold.
- Press yogurt down into the molds using the back of your spoon to make sure they’re packed. This will help seal the peanut butter and yogurt together in the final treat. You can even gently “drop” the tray a few times in order to encourage further settling. If you have excess yogurt in any of the molds, gently scoop away until level with mold and pop into the freezer for at least 4 hours.
- Once frozen, remove tray and pop out individual frozen treats — voila!

Carob Dipped Dog Biscuit Recipe

1 egg
1/4 cup applesauce
1/2 cup beef or chicken broth
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon molasses
1/4 cup oil
2 1/4 cups whole-wheat flour
2 cups carob chips
- Preheat oven to 300 F.
- In a large bowl, combine egg, applesauce, broth, honey, molasses and oil. Gradually stir in flour.
- Dough should be stiff, add flour or water to adjust.
- On a well floured surface, roll out dough into 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to make shapes from the dough
- Place on lightly greased cookie sheets and bake for 30 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown.
- Melt carob chips in microwave or double boiler.
- Dip half of the heart into the melted carob.
- Place cookies on waxed paper and let stand until carob is set.
- Devour
