WHY BULK IS BAD
A recent study conducted by the researchers at the University of Bristol’s Anthrozoology Institute found that 93 percent of dogs in a large kennel performed repetitive behaviors like spinning, pacing and walking in circles. Scientists indicated that these behaviors are associated with numerous mental health problems.
It is actually recommended that a dog have playtime most of the day for optimum health – a luxury not afforded to the dogs in a bulk kennel system. Amongst a large quantity of other canines, socialization can also be a problem.
Fear aggression is common amongst dogs that weren’t adequately socialized as puppies. This results in fighting in an area that cannot be completely controlled and monitored. Individualized attention in such an environment is near impossible. Bulk facilities are interested in quantity of boarders rather than quality of care.
