In Choosing A Kennel, Dog Boarding, san antonio kennel

Hello my name is Allison,

My name is Allison and I’ve been a part of Pawderosa’s team since 2015. What started out as a part-time job while I completed my Bachelor’s in English at UTSA has become an absolute passion of mine. After a year as a care specialist, I was promoted to Lead Care Specialist. My team and I are in charge of administering medication, prepping food based on owner instructions, bathing pets and giving nail trims on the day of their departure, and performing bed time belly-rubs at the end of the night. Anything your dog needs when they’re not outside romping with staff and friends comes from us, and we always make sure to spend a few minutes sneaking kisses and cuddles when there’s down time. We actually encourage our staff to interact with the dogs as much as possible, so that we can better understand what they need and which ear they prefer to be scratched behind.

What’s your favorite time of the year at the ranch?

My favorite time of year at the Ranch is summertime! I just love seeing the dogs splashing through the pools and dunking their heads underwater to stay cool. The enrichment specialists will place large blocks of ice in the water just for the dogs to grab them and run all around the yard with them! Then in the afternoons it’s peaceful when all the dogs take to sunbathing and relaxing after their rambunctious mornings.

Tell me about your pets at home?

My boyfriend and I own one dog, named Wiley (the Coyote), and one cat, named Simba. Both have such strong personalities; Wiley is a sixty pound brindle bundle of joy who loves to please us, and can never bring us enough toys when we get home after work. He knows quite a few tricks, but hasn’t perfected the art of executing the right ones when asked – he likes to just run through all of them and hope he eventually does the one we’re looking for. Simba, a beautiful long-haired orange slice of mischief, was pretty aloof as a kitten but now loves to snuggle with us at the end of the night when we’re watching TV before bed. Working at Pawderosa Ranch has taught me a lot about dogs, knowledge that I love to bring home and use as a guide to better take care of Wiley.

What’s your favorite thing about the Ranch?

My favorite thing about the Ranch is that we take the time to get to know each dog; when your fur-babies return for another lodging reservation, almost everyone has something to say about their behavior, mannerisms, quirks, whether or not they like fetch out in the yard, or if they would just rather stick by staff and look for some loving. We make it our mission in the bunkhouse to understand the needs and wants of each pet, and fall in love with every single unique personality. Even over the holidays, when we’re at our busiest, every employee knows every single dog’s name. We don’t let anything fall through the cracks because we work our hardest to give your pets the attention and care they deserve while you’re away.

At Pawderosa Ranch we welcome all dogs to come play and stay with us! Each rancher is cared for by a specialized staff who understand the benefits of dog daycare and lodging and who are passionate about making Pawderosa Ranch the best dog boarding in San Antonio. We can’t wait to see your pup!
