The holidays are among us. While they can be the most magical time of the year for us, they could also be very stressful for your pup.
We want to make the holidays as stress free for you and your pup, so here are our must know tips on how to prepare your dog for the best dog holiday.
Dog friendly décor – This might seem obvious but sometimes we get carried away with the decorating and forget that our pups might be inclined to do a taste test on our poinsettias. Sticking with dog friendly décor is a safe way to go.
Sticking to a normal routine – As hard as this is, if you walk your pup every morning…stick to the routine! Your pup won’t understand why his walk is getting skipped and might end up on the naughty list by the end of the season.
Gathering updated vet information – It’s not uncommon for vet offices to have adjusted holiday hours. It’s best to stop by your vet and keep a copy of your pup’s updated vet records put away for emergencies or last-minute lodging reservations.
Give her a safe space – You may have the happiest pup in the world, but having strangers coming in and out during the holidays can be exhausting. Giving your pup a safe space such as your bedroom or her kennel allows her to take as many quiet naps as needed.
Schedule a holiday groom – You want your pup to make a great first impression when friends and family come to town. Scheduling a holiday groom with our groomer Sam is a sure-fire way your pup will look, and smell, her best!
Make lodging reservations – When planning your family’s holiday vacation, it’s easy to forget who’s going to look after your pup. Or, if you know you’re not going to be able to stick to her routine and give her a safe space, be sure to give yourself enough time to schedule your pup’s lodging reservation. We would love to celebrate Christmas with your pup, and you can even purchase a holiday dinner plate for your pup while she’s with us at the Ranch!
